Vacation: Fontainebleau Resort, Florida

Fontainebleau Resort

If you want to stay in a luxurious resort, then check out Fontainebleau in Miami Beach.  It is right on the Atlantic Ocean, has over 1500 rooms, and recently underwent a $1 billion renovation and expansion.  Some of their most notable amenities include 11 restaurants and lounges, a 40,000 square foot spa, and a free-form pool with private cabanas.  The restaurants cover a variety of cuisines (Italian, Cantonese, Pan American, American) and there are several bars (one of them poolside) and nightclubs.

The rooms sound fantastic.  They have 4 buildings on site – 2 original buildings and 2 new towers.  The room configurations cover guestrooms, one to three bedroom suites, penthouses, and triple connecting rooms.  Most rooms have HD flatscreen TVs, sound systems, 20″ iMac computer, and other luxurious amenities.  There is something here for every budget.

There is also a lot to keep you occupied at this resort, in addition to the nightclubs.  They are right on the ocean and also have a large pool if you want to spend some time in the water.  They also have a few shops if you want to go shopping (swim shop, clothing, spa, gifts, and sundries).  There is a two level spa if you want to relax for a while.   Furthermore, there are options nearby for fishing, golfing, and tennis.  They also have activities for kids involving games, teambuilding, sports, music, drama, art, and scavenger hunts.  The program is called “FB Kids”.

The hotel is famous and has been featured on television and in the movies.  Some of these include Goldfinger, Scarface, Police Academy 5, The Specialist, and The Bodyguard.  It has also been featured on the TV show “Top Chef” and also on “Live with Regis and Kelly”.

Fontainebleau is very luxurious.  The beautiful cabanas are poolside, draped with curtains, and contain comfortable chairs and a television.  There are huge Belgian crystal chandeliers in the lobby created by artist Ai Weiwei – and I do mean HUGE.  The bar has a color changing floor with all the bottles wrapped around a lit-up column in the center.  The Spa just looks incredible.  It has everything from reclined seats next to a large pool to massage beds overlooking the ocean.  This place is perfect for someone looking for an upscale vacation, some pampering, and fun in the sun.
